Europe's Poorest? Look North
This article in The Wall
Street Journal - analyzes the data delivered by the ECB - European Central
Bank, where the Germany’s households are presented as one of the poorest in
Europe. The analysis identifies several factors that were not taken into
account, which leads to an incomplete reality show about poverty level in the
countries studied, and suggests that those countries are not really as poor as
they seem.
Such surveys and studies
should be conducted in a demanding, considering that the economy of a country
can be negatively influenced by the erroneous disclosure risk symptoms too
high, which directly affects the level of investor confidence in general
economic development of a country.
There are also additional
interests to display the information in this way: Taxpayers in Germany do not
want to continue taking over weaker countries. They suggest that the richest
private groups of the weaker countries should also take responsibility.
Economists React: Surprise Chinese Trade
Deficit
Figures of China´s trade export Growth during this
year seem to be erratic. During the first two months the submitted data seemed
to be inflated, presumably to favor the environment prior to the transition of
the Chinese leader. In the third month it was presented a marked reduction in
growth. These data are not consistent because this year on February 10th,the
Chinese Lunar new Year holidays started, and production plants usually stop two
weeks before this date and resume activity 2 weeks later, which means that for
the whole month of February it should have been a large exports reduction,
which did not happen. Besides exports to the United States and the European
community were reduced this year according to the imports data from those
countries, and Chinese export data showed an increase in exports to Hong Kong,
with a final destination of export of materials to these two countries,
indicating that there is no consistency in the information. Anyway the 10% exports
growth data is an unwanted figure. It should be noted that mechanisms to
validate released information authenticity must be taken into consideration to
avoid a world economic impact due to bad practices that distort a country
economic reality.
